LUNAR PHASES PLANETARIUM ACTIVITY
Grades: Middle School
Subject: Lunar Phases activity
Description:
Intended Learning Outcomes
Investigation of several phases of the Moon during a whole month, as seen from space, and from Earth.
Summary
Moon phases are caused by the sun illuminating different parts of the Lunar surface.
At any given time, a hemisphere of the moon is illuminated by light source (the sun), as we see the day/night imaginary-line moving across the moon while the sun illuminates its surface.
The moon does not have a "dark side", but there is a distant side, which cannot be seen from Earth.
At any given time - half of the Lunar surface is illuminated, and the other half is dark.
